Sandalwood
is new and the first bungalow/guesthouse accommodation at
Ipota. It's located at the southern end of the airstrip and
nearby the river. Ask for Simon.
Costs
and Booking
Sandalwood Guesthouse is great value at 1500 Vatu per person,
per night. Expect prices to go up slightly as the business
becomes established. Exchange rates.
You can
telephone Simon on 5364951 (Digicel) but there was no mobile
phone coverage at Ipota in April 2012. People have to walk
1.5 to 2 hours to get coverage. It's more practical to send
a text message about a week in advance or you might also send
a message via Pastor Henry in Port Vila (Digicel 5912386).
Accommodation
and Food
Sandalwood
Guest House has two bungalows, each with two single beds inside.
There is another large bungalow with 6 beds inside.
You can
bathe in the river or with rainwater from the tank. There
is a basic sit-down pit toilet.
Sandalwood
has a shared kitchen, with gas cooktop and simple local meals
can be provided at no extra cost. They have rainwater for
drinking.
