Malowia Guesthouse ('Ma-low-we-ah') is a new place (April 2014) on the beach at Paunangisu village ('Pow-nun-gee-su'), with safe swimming and views across to Nguna and Pele islands.

Costs and booking
Malowia costs 4000 Vatu per person, per night, including
meals. Children under 10 years are 3000 Vatu. Activities are reasonably priced at 500-1000 Vatu per person. These include guided snorkelling, traditional weaving, traditional food preparation, bush walks, hot springs and World War II museum. Exchange
are owned and run by Janet Bunyan, a Yorkshire lady who married and settled in Vanuatu. Her husband, Willie and his family are from Paunangisu. Janet can help in finding public transport from Port Vila.

Accommodation and food
There are 2 bedrooms, each with 1 double bed and 1 bunk bed (can sleep a total of 8). Extra mattresses and a baby cot are available. The windows and doors are screened against mosquitoes. There are tea and coffee making facilities and the guesthouse has basic solar power. Paunangisu has a good fresh water supply from a creek in the bush (see photo). The food is local and fresh.
